December Goals

My December 2016 Goals

Hello, lovelies! I’m gonna be honest with y’all. I am so stressed out. It’s not even that I’m stressed, it’s just that I have so much to do in the next week. I have 3 finals in the span of 30 hours! (So like, a little over a day). Then I have a month-long winter break, where I will have even more stuff to do (That have nothing to do with school). When you’re at this point of the semester, motivation is hard to come by, so I wish you luck. Before I babble anymore than I need to, here are my December goals.

Well, I mean how I did on my November goals, then my December goals.

//Recap Of November Goals//

  • Buy A Professional Design For My Blog – Complete! I am so in love with it. I would’ve put it up during Thanksgiving Break, but there’s something wrong with the code. I didn’t have time to fix it, but once the semester ends, I will have it up ASAP.
  • Publish 2 Sponsored Posts – Nope. I had no time. I did get a sponsor, but I wasn’t able to finish it in November, so it’ll be published this month.
  • Make A Study Plan For Finals – This is a tentative yes. I created one, but it’s not as elaborate as I would’ve wanted it to be. It’s functional and will get the job done, so I’m okay with it.
  • Complete All Research Credit Hours For Psychology – I am SO glad this is complete. We’re required to complete 6 hours of research credit for my Psychology class. They’re due on Monday, but I was able to get them all out of the way before the break. This is a huge weight off my shoulders. I feel sorry for those who haven’t completed them yet because they are a lot of work.
  • Upload All Notes And Study Guides On Study Soup – I have uploaded most of them and the rest will be uploaded this weekend. I’m calling this a win because they’ll all be up on time. I have had a really good experience with this website. It’s really nice to make a little money on the side doing this.
  • Make More Plans To Do Stuff For Fun – I did a lot of stuff for fun this month. (I’ll elaborate more on what I did later in the post) Exploring and spending time with friends is a great break from all the work I normally have to do. I think this is a goal that all college students should set because having a mental break can really ease stress.
  • Publish 9 Blog Posts – Sorry. I didn’t get this done. Expect tons more content in December.
  •  Do Something For My 19th Birthday – Complete. More on what I did later.
  • Make Connections Through WyzAnt – Nope. I should’ve worked harder on this, but it was a battle to get necessary stuff done this month. End of Semester Slump hit me hard.
  • Perfect My Anthropology Paper – Complete. I completed this on time and I think I did a good job. The grades aren’t out, yet, but fingers crossed I didn’t bomb it. (It’s a quarter of my grade) (Update: I got a 100%!)

//Do Well On My Finals Without Stressing Too Much

This is a pretty self-explanatory goal. I’m not as stressed about the actual exams as I am about the podcast. I have to create a podcast for my English class. It’s my final exam grade and there are a million things to do for it. My worst fear is that it’ll be deleted after I finish (This happened to a friend of mine this morning). The podcast is due on Monday. I have a final that day, too. Then I have a final on Wednesday, and two finals on Thursday.

The podcast should be done tomorrow if I don’t procrastinate too much, and I’m pretty sure I’ll do well on the finals. I currently have straight A’s and I want to keep it that way. I don’t want my GPA to drop so much in my first year, otherwise, I’ll have to spend the next few years of college working at bringing it up (Been there, done that, unfortunately)

//Complete All My December Blogging Goals

If you’ve read my 6-month update, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Here’s a little recap:

  • Install design and make tweaks
  • Create a new logo + rebrand
  • Take pictures of myself for blog
  • Join the InfluenceHer Collective
  • Re-Read and Revise blog posts written in the last three months
  • Add affiliate links to old posts

That seems like a lot, but I’ll have more time once finals are finished.

//Take CLEP Exams

I can get a few credits out of the way by doing this. I took Calculus II in High School, but that doesn’t have an AP Exam, so I have to take CLEP to get the credit. There are a few others I can take as well. This’ll save both money and time. I decided to wait until winter break to do this because I’ll have time to review.

//Be More Active On Blog’s Social Media

I have definitely been lacking on this part of blogging. Social media has never been my forte. Like EVER. It’ll take some time to get used to. I’ve gotten better about posting on Instagram, but haven’t scheduled anything on Twitter in a while. Don’t get me started on Facebook. This month, I really want to do a better job in this aspect of blogging because it’s really important.

//Apply For Three Scholarships

Many people forget that you are still able to get scholarships while you’re in college (Guilty!). I feel like I should be more active about applying because it’s better for me in the long run. If you want motivation to do this, the money left over from paying for college goes to you. You can use the money for anything you want. (A friend of mine bought a guitar with her leftover scholarship money). I’m a serial saver, so the money will go straight to the bank, but that’s motivation enough for me (That and having no student loans).

//Spend This Month Networking And Finding More People To Work With

For those of you who don’t know, I work with special needs kids. I haven’t been that great at contacting families and finding work the last few weeks (A lot of what I do is freelance. I’m self-employed) because I haven’t been productive with my time. I am going to take this a lot more seriously once finals end.

I might even start doing general tutoring. I’ll have a bunch of time on my hands, so it’d be a good use of it. Especially since school ends early for me and middle schoolers and high schoolers have finals way after me.

//Blog WAY More

I have a very long list of blog posts coming at you in the next few weeks. After finals, y’all are gonna be bombarded (If all goes well). I had considered doing Blogmas, but I will not be able to write again until the 8th of December, so that’s not happening. You’re gonna be sick of me by the New Year.

//My Cousins From Florida Came

They had to come on a weekday because my uncle just finished his residency at a hospital and had work again that weekend. The timing wasn’t great for me because I had an exam the day they were supposed to leave. The day before was spent running back and forth between studying and playing with my cousins. (My cousins who live in Georgia were also at my house, so it was loud but still fun)

I was sure I was going to do badly on that exam, but I ended up getting a 100 (What?!?). I am 100% sure that test was curved because it was difficult. Even so, I must’ve set the curve. That was definitely a highlight of this month. I don’t remember the last time I got a 100 on an exam. (It’s happened before, I just don’t remember it)

//I Voted For The First Time

We saw how well that went…

I made this picture small because it's not the best quality.

That was a pretty exciting day. Last year, my 18th birthday was two weeks after the election, so I was pissed. It was a great feeling to vote for the first time.

It went downhill that night. I couldn’t focus on work and my studies at all because I kept checking on the election.

Well, on a happier note…

//I Turned 19

I turned 19 last Saturday. I didn’t really do anything. My family and I went out to dinner on the 20th because my grandparents were leaving for Bangladesh on the 21st. We just ate Chinese food and spent time together. There’s a picture of us that day below.

On my actual birthday, my parents, brothers and I went to Olive Garden. Believe it or not, but I’ve never eaten there before. My mom chose the restaurant. The food was really good, but there was just way too much of it. We took home leftovers. They also gave me some free cake. It was delicious.

After we ate lunch, we went home. I studied a bit and played with Mysoon. That night, I went to watch Moana in theaters. I had a bunch of choices, too. So many good movies come out during Thanksgiving Break. There was also Fantastic Beasts and Dr.Strange, but you can never go wrong with Disney! It was a pretty good movie. But the second they started singing, I texted my friends, “Guys, *sigh*, Moana is a musical.” I was really hoping it would be all plot, but there was a bunch of music.

It was still a great movie. Dwayne Johnson is a surprisingly good singer. And this song has been stuck in my head since I watched the movie.

Awesome day with these girls today. Happy 19th birthday Cindy!

That was a really awesome day. I saw a bunch of my friends and we ate lunch together, walked around Atlanta and caught up.

Thanksgiving 2016
Thanksgiving 2016

I made the turkey this year and it was actually pretty good. I’m not really a fan of turkey unless it’s in bacon form or it’s sandwich meat. I am more of a side dish person. The food was really good overall. It was potluck style, so everyone made food. The picture above is of the kids/teens. I am the fourth one from the left wearing the blue dress.

It was nice hanging out with my cousins and friends for the evening. At night, four of my friends and I walked around my neighborhood. It was cold, but we could actually see some stars (Not that many. These are the suburbs of metro-Atlanta, so we see more planes than stars most nights)

So yeah, that was November. For most of the month, it was really hot. Then we suddenly transitioned into winter weather. We essentially skipped fall. The leaves only really started to fall a few days ago. In fact, some of the leaves are still green! This sort of sucks because Autumn is my favorite season.

Now it’s getting warm, again. Georgia’s weather fluctuates a lot. It can be warm one day then snowing the next (This has happened before). We’ll see how December goes.

On that note, I hope you have a great month. You won’t see me for a while, but I’ll be back once the semester ends.
