My Favorite Disney Movies

Disney

When I tell people my favorite Disney movie, I usually say Tarzan or Peter Pan, but I have a ton more. They have changed over the years. I decided to divide my favorite Disney movies into different categories. There will also be honorary mentions at the bottom because I am too much of a Disnerd to leave those movies out.

//Favorite Movie from when Walt Disney was alive: Peter Pan

I love Peter Pan!. It was a fun movie and I loved the concept of Neverland and magic and the adventure. I will admit that my love for the movie has a lot to do with the books, which is a bit more violent than the movies, but I found it interesting.

//Favorite Movie After Walt Disney Died: Tarzan

Usually, when people ask me what my favorite movie is, I say “Tarzan.” I think it’s mainly because the princess is a scientist. Not really. I just like it. Phil Collins sings beautifully and I love how you see Tarzan and Jane learn each other’s language. Not suddenly understand each other through magic or innate sense.

I have watched all three movies and every episode of the show. I can truly say I’m a Tarzan fan. It was one of those movies that Mysoon would watch repetitively, but I never got tired of it.

//Favorite Disney Princess Movie: Pocahontas

I love almost all the Disney princess movies, but my rule for this post was to choose one. Pocahontas is definitely my favorite. I feel like this princess movie had more plot threads and was much more developed than the others. I love the music and the story. I also like that it didn’t end with a happily ever after. It was much more emotional that way.

(There is a scene they deleted with a song called “If I Never Knew You.” I love that song and wish they hadn’t deleted it. I put the link here)

//Favorite Sequel- Cinderella III: A Twist In Time

I love this movie. It is by far my favorite Disney Sequel. It makes me like Cinderella more. You get to see a whole different side of her (partially because this movie was created in the 21st century). The plot is so complicated and you never know what’s going to happen next, which is rare for children’s films. The last thing you expect to happen, happens.

Prince Henry is hilarious! He is one of my favorite princes now. My brother Zidan agrees with me, he had the best lines.

//Favorite Pixar Movie: The Incredibles

Pixar blows my mind with almost all their movies, but “The Incredibles” is by far my favorite. I love the action and the plot. I really enjoyed this movie.

//Favorite Lesser Known Movie: Oliver and Company

This was one of the VHS tapes we got from Goodwill. I used to watch it all the time. So many people haven’t heard of the movie, but I love it. I remember last year, I would turn on the song “Why Should I Worry?” while in the bathroom brushing my teeth. It’s a fun song to dance to.

//Favorite Movie from Hospital Waiting Rooms: Robin Hood

This might need a little explaining. My brother has autism, so when I was growing up, we were in and out of hospitals and doctor’s offices. I didn’t mind. They had really fancy waiting room with TVs and toys and indoor playgrounds. I was young, and I thought that Mysoon was as normal as anyone else. I just thought that going to hospitals was something people regularly do. So my dad and I were looking at the VHS tapes one day, and he found the movie “Robin Hood.” He asked me if I had ever watched it, and I said no. He said that it was an awesome movie and turned it on for me. Every time we went back to that doctor’s office, i turned on that movie. I loved it.

//Favorite Classic Disney Movie: Winnie the Pooh

I love Winnie the Pooh. I’ve watched all the movies and my stuffed animal from when I was a Pooh Bear. I also have a Winnie the Pooh tsum-tsum pencil case. When I got older, I learned that each of the characters represent a disability or disorder (Piglet-anxiety; Roo-autism; Owl- dyslexia, etc.) Now when I watch the movies, I notice little things that attribute to their “disabilities” like Owl reading things wrong, leading to different adventures. They are really interesting to watch now that I’m older. Also, these are one of the movies that Mysoon watches ALL THE TIME, and I haven’t gotten tired of it, like some other movies he watches repetitively.
