Hello, lovelies! I meant to publish this post on my 22nd Birthday during Thanksgiving break, but I was swamped with school and didn’t have time to blog, so you’re getting it today. I made this list in the middle of a very boring lecture in August. I had just taken an epic month-long trip around Europe the summer before, which had been my biggest travel goal at that point, and I didn’t know where I wanted to go next.
So instead of nodding off in class, I started writing a list of trip ideas. Not necessarily specific destinations, but more like multi-country, multifaceted trip ideas. I mainly based them off of tours I had looked up online or itineraries other bloggers had talked about. I counted them up and they added up to nine. When I turned 20, I went to Bangladesh for the first time, and I took the trip to Europe when I was 21, so it was completely feasible for me to take all the trips on my list before 30 by taking at least one per year.
That’s pretty much sums up how this post came about. I probably won’t go on all of these by 30, but I’d be over the moon if I could do at least half of then. It also just seemed like a fun post to write. This list is in no particular order. I hope you enjoy.
1.//Australia & New Zealand
I wrote a Travel Bucket List back when I first started my blog in 2016 listing all the countries I wanted to travel to in each continent, and New Zealand wasn’t on it. I genuinely had no desire to travel to New Zealand up until this summer. I’d be happy if I got the chance to go, but it wasn’t high on my list of countries. Then comes my trip to Europe, and all the close friends I made on that trip are from New Zealand and Australia.
I’d love to see the country anyway, but I think the biggest reason I would visit would be to see my friends again. Plus, I’ll have a lot of places to stay since they live in different parts of the island. I also have family members in Sydney, Australia who I want to visit and explore the country with, and I have new friends in Melbourne. This trip just makes sense because I have a lot of people I care about to show me around and stay with.
Also, Australia is a great place for adventure travel like diving and hiking, which is something that appeals to me.
2.//Peru
Out of all the countries in South America, Peru is the one highest on my bucket list. Mostly because I want to do the four-day Inca Trail hike. It’s physically grueling, and I used to be afraid of it, but I think I’ll be able to do it now. Peru is also at the top of my dad’s bucket list, so maybe I’ll be able to drag him there with me.
3.//Brazil & Argentina
Many tours I look at pair these countries together, so I could make one whole trip out of them. I’d love to go to Rio for Carnival, see one of the seven wonders of the world, and take Tango classes in Argentina. Honestly, this is mostly on my bucket list because I want to explore those countries in general, not necessarily to do something specific there.
4.//Egypt, Jordan, & Israel
One of my friends spent six weeks in Jordan last summer, and even though Jordan has always been somewhere I wanted to go, her pictures made me want to go sooner. If I ever make it to that part of the world, I’d prefer to cross off multiple countries at once. My friend also visited Israel while she was there and somehow got into Palestine. I wouldn’t go that far, but I would love to float in the dead sea. And in terms of Egypt, I’d love to see the pyramids and ride a camel in the Sahara desert. These destinations seem like a dream to me, and even if I don’t go to them all together on one trip, I’d like to visit all three of them someday.
5.//South Africa, Zimbabwe, & Zambia
I’m genuinely open to going to any African country to go on a safari. I mainly picked these countries because one of my friends in New Zealand wants to go on this tour, and I told her I’d be happy to join her. You need permits and stuff to go on safaris, and I probably wouldn’t go to Africa alone without a planned tour or somebody from there with me anyway. There are also other things I’d like to see in these countries like Victoria Falls.
6.//China & Japan
I would like to cross the Great Wall of China because my grandparents have crossed it multiple times, plus it’s one of the seven wonders of the world. Japan is also pretty high up on my bucket list, mostly because of sushi, but one of my professors is going to Japan to practice pottery, so that’d be a pretty cool experience.
7.//India & Bangladesh
I would like to visit Bangladesh several more times in the next nine years because my family is there, but the next time I go, I’d like to stop in India on the way. If I were to go, I’d probably do the golden triangle (Agra, Jaipur, and Delhi), which is what most tourists do when they go to India. There are certainly other cities in India I’d like to visit, but I think that’s a good start because if I were to go to that part of Asia again, I’d prefer to spend the majority of my time in Bangladesh.
8.//Spain, Portugal, & Morocco
The last bits of Europe I’d like to visit are Spain and Portugal. I did most of the main countries last summer, aside from Austria and Greece, which are also on my list. When I go to Spain and Portugal, I’d love to go to Morocco because it’s so close and there are many parts of it I’d like to explore. Morocco has actually been pretty high up on my bucket list along with Peru for quite a few years.
9.//Costa Rica
Central America as a whole is on my bucket list because of all the nature excursions, but I’d probably go to Costa Rica first because there’s a special needs program I’d love to volunteer for at some point. It’s also relatively inexpensive to visit.
Well, that’s it for now. This wasn’t a super informative post. It was more of a mod-podge list of destinations I want to visit and why. I plan on going to all these places eventually, so keep on reading! 🙂
