My July 2018 Goals

Hello, lovelies! I’m back with another monthly goals post. I hope you enjoy.

//June Reflection//

June was not a productive month for me. Have you ever experienced “holiday brain?” Where you can’t find the motivation to do anything productive? You just want to relax and eat unhealthy food. That’s what happened to me. Ramadan was last month and the week before and after Eid, I couldn’t get anything done. This is apparent in my blog because I posted regularly at the beginning of the month and at the end of the month but completely disappeared in the middle.

I was upset with myself in the beginning, but then I realized that no one feels guilty about not working on Christmas, so I shouldn’t either.

June was a pretty chill month. The only real exciting thing was that our cousins from New York visited. We stayed up late every night hanging out. It was a lot of fun.

I also had transfer orientation last month, so I was able to meet with my advisor and register for classes. I wrote an entire post about that, so you can check it out. Honestly, the most fun part was spending an hour and a half talking to my friend Stellah. It was great.

Other than that, nothing really exciting happened. I read books and watched movies instead of completing a lot of my goals, so the “how I did” section won’t be very inspiring.

RelatedMy June 2018 Power Sheets Goals

  • Open Separate Bank Account – I almost did this so many times. There were at least eight times where I planned to go to the bank but didn’t. This goal is rolling over to next month.
  • Apply For Another Credit Card – I chickened out. Even though I don’t have any debt, getting a credit card is such a daunting task. I definitely need to get another one to continue building my credit, but I’ll probably put this off for another month.
  • FAFSA + Register For Classes – Complete.
  • Read 5 Books – Complete.
  • Organize Blog Navigation – June was not a very blog oriented month. I want to get this done before the Fall semester starts.
  • Create The First Draft Of E-Course– I have the E-Course fully outlined, but I didn’t start the first draft. Again, June wasn’t a very blog oriented month.
  • Post Bangladesh Photo Album – I went through and organized the thousand plus pictures. This took forever. I will definitely post the photo album this month.
  • Declutter Bedroom – This is half done. I decluttered everything but I closet. I went through all my jewelry, books, etc. I just didn’t do the most daunting task:  going through all my clothes. I’m the only girl and my mom loves shopping, so I have a lot of clothes. It takes a long time to declutter.
  • Publish Blog Post 3 Times Per Week – June started and ended on a good note. Let’s not talk about the middle.

//July Goals//

//Get Ready To Move Out

I will be moving out in August and I am nowhere near ready. There’s so much to do and I haven’t started any of it. My mom is super in denial about me leaving. Whenever I bring up packing, she says, “Why do you need to pack? You’ll be coming back all the time anyway?” My parents aren’t as worried about me as they are about how my brother Mysoon will react to me leaving. (For new readers, Mysoon is my younger brother who has autism). I’ll write more about that later on.

This goal includes both the fun aspects of moving like packing and the tedious things like filling out paperwork. I’d like to get that done as soon as possible.

//Open Bank Account

I still haven’t opened a new bank account. This goal is rolling over from last month. There were at least eight times where I told my mom I was going to the bank and never did. I really need to get this done this month so that I can transfer all of my money in my account under my parents to mine before I move out.

//Finish 7 Books

Normally my goal has been five, but I think I’ll be able to finish seven this month.

//Declutter Closet

In the month of June, I decluttered everything but my closet. I cleaned out my bookshelf, my makeup, my jewelry, etc before Eid, but haven’t gotten around to cleaning out my closet. I haven’t cleaned out my closet in a while and would like to get it within the next few weeks. A friend of mine is staying with us near the middle of the month and I won’t have the time or desire to declutter my clothes.

//Organize Blog Navigation

Another goal rolling over from last month. I haven’t reorganized my blog since last summer and some things have changed. I would like to reorganize a few things. (Most of this will be behind the scenes stuff you won’t notice).

//Alcohol EDU & Sexual Assault Prevention For Undergraduates Course

I have to complete two courses before I transfer to my new college. One is about sexual assault prevention and the other is about substance abuse. I’ve already started the sexual assault prevention course because it’s due first. I think it’ll take about two hours to complete altogether. I’ve already finished half of it. That one is due in August. The Alcohol Edu one isn’t due till October, but I want to finish it now.

//Start Writing E-Course

I have finished outlining the entire course I want to sell on this blog, but I haven’t started fleshing it out. Ideally, the first draft would be done by the end of the month, but I want to be realistic here. I just want to get started and finish two or three sections.

//Weekly Goals

  • Post 3 Blog Posts Per Week – This hopefully won’t be a repeat of last month. I’m already ahead on blog posts.
  • Track Income & Expenses – I did not track my income or expenses well enough in the month of June. I want to be on top of it in July.
  • Spend Time With A Friend Twice A Week – Making plans with a friend once a week is doable, but making plans to go out twice a week is harder than you think when it comes to work schedules and life.
  • Complete Chapter Of GRE Book Per Week – My dad gave me a workbook to help study for the GRE. I may as well use some of the time I have going through it.
  • Work Out 3-5 Days Per Week – Self-explanatory

That’s it for now. I’ll see you Monday!

What are your goals for the month of July? How did the first six months of 2018 go for you?
