My June 2018 Power Sheets Goals

Hello, lovelies! I’m back with another monthly goals post. As you know, I’ve been using the 2018 Powersheets Goal Planner and it has been a game changer for me. I’ve never been this on top of my goals and I’m really noticing the progress I’m making. I started off the month of May with bronchitis, so that definitely hindered my productivity, so let’s get into it.

//May Reflection//

May was not the best month for me. It was my least favorite month so far this year, mostly because I spent half of it sick and at the doctor’s office (Like seriously, I went to a doctor’s office twice a week last month. I think it’s the universe’s way of telling me that I shouldn’t have gotten my own health insurance). Bronchitis was pretty terrible and it took longer for me to get over it than most people. On a brighter note, I finally figured out what’s wrong with my back. For the last six months, I’ve been experiencing chronic back pain and the orthopedist had no idea why. I got an X-Ray in January and they thought it was a pinched nerve in my back, but those go away within two months. Since the pain has been ongoing since December, my doctor ordered an MRI, which showed that the disk between my spine and tailbone moved five millimeters. It’s not irreversible. They gave me a back brace, which has been a godsend, and I’ve started going to physical therapy. I’m just glad to finally know what’s going on now. I just wished they had found it in January when I first went to the orthopedist.

That ate away at most of my month. I am so sick of doctor’s offices, it’s not even funny.

I was not productive in May at all. After I got over the bronchitis, I was super lazy about blogging and spent all my free time reading or watching T.V. It was great in terms of my business because I got a lot of hours of work, but I should’ve been more productive the rest of the time. I definitely did not fully accomplish a good chunk of my goals until the last week of May. Even so, I had a lot of fun. I met up with a bunch of my friends and slept over with my cousin. I also got on the Dean’s List for the spring semester. I was very happy about that.

May was very much my first break now that school is over. I plan on being a lot more productive and structured about my days in June.

//How I Did On My May Goals//

  • Create Summer Fitness Plan – Complete.
  • Work Out 4-5 Times Per Week – I started working out again after I stopped being sick. I need to gain my momentum back, but it was nice.
  • Create Financial Plan + Track Income & Expenses – Complete. I never used to be one of those people who track their income and expenses. I just let technology take care of it for me.
  • Set Up College Transfer Stuff – I filled out my immunization forms, verified my citizenship, and signed up for orientation. Those were the three main things I wanted to get done in the month of May. There are a few more things I need to get done in June that I’ve already listed below.
  • Read 5 Books – Complete. I finished eight books last month. Mostly because I was sick in bed.
  • Complete E-Course + Outline Product Idea – I did not finish the course. I’ll definitely finish it this summer, but not all at once.
  • Register For ASL Advanced Certification – Sort of complete. I registered for the class but not enough people registered for the summer session, so I won’t be able to start until the Fall, which means I won’t be certified by the end of the year. It sucks but that’s out of my control. I can wait until Spring.
  • Post 3 Blog Posts Per Week – Nope. I have no good excuse for not doing this. I had time, but I spent that extra time binge-watching Dear White People and 13 Reasons Why on Netflix. I also rewatched ever Marvel superhero movie, so no regrets. I just wish I had been a bit better about writing.
  • Meet Up With A Friend Twice A Week – I completed this goal, but it was difficult to complete. Regularly making plans with friends takes effort when you aren’t seeing them every day in school. Working around everyone’s work and personal schedules takes work, but it’s worth it.

//My June 2018 Goals//

//Open Separate Bank Account

My bank account is under my parents’ bank account. I didn’t create a new bank account for myself when I turned eighteen because I was still in the first semester of my senior year of high school, so I didn’t see the point. After that, I lived at home for my first two years of college. Now that I’m moving out, I think it’s time to get my own bank account (technically the one I have now is mine, but I want to open one separate from my parents). At some point next week, I plan on going to the bank and opening one.

//Apply For Another Credit Card

I explained this goal a bit in this post, but I’ll give a short summary here. I started building my credit score a few months ago, and so far that’s been a doable process. My credit score is currently 716. The next step is to get another credit card (Don’t worry, I haven’t maxed out the one I already have) because it’s better to have multiple lines of credit. My current plan is to let one card cover a fixed expense and have the other one cover variable expenses month to month. I don’t plan on getting any more this year. I’ll probably apply for a third credit card in 2019.

Just a word of advice: Only get a credit card in college to build credit and only get one if you can trust yourself to pay it off fully every month. It’s better to graduate with zero credit than it is to graduate with thousands of dollars in credit card debt. Please do your research like I did. I am not a financial planner. I’m just a regular college student who did a lot of research. You can read about some of the resources I used in the post linked below.

//FAFSA + Register For Classes

I still haven’t filled out FAFSA yet, but plan on doing it soon. I also have transfer orientation, where I will register for my fall semester classes. This is more of a to-do list item for this month than a personal goal, but I wrote it in my Powersheets as a reminder.

//Read 5 Books

My goal for this summer is to read 20 books, so five books a month (summer is 4 months in Georgia). I finished eight in the month of May, so this goal should be easy. Last month, I was sick and laying in bed, so it was easy to read more books. This month might be different.

//Organize Blog Navigation

I need to reorganize the menu of this blog because I haven’t updated it in awhile. I need to move some stuff around and add some better categories.

//Create First Draft Of E-Course

I have the idea written out and outlined, but I really want to get started on it this month. This is the kind of thing I usually procrastinate on, which is why I’m not breaking it up into monthly tasks. It’s better for me to just write an entire first draft without looking back and editing everything later.

//Post Bangladesh Photo Album

There is seriously something wrong with me. I’ve been trying to do this for months but have been super lazy about it. It’s gotten to the point where my family has stopped pestering me about sending pictures. If you have a South Asian family, you know how long that takes. So help me, I WILL post that freakin’ photo album to Facebook. I will also try to post the recaps on the blog.

//Declutter Bedroom

2018 has been a productive year, but I haven’t cleaned my room in the last six months. I’m not a ridiculously messy person, so it’s liveable, but I need to clean and declutter. I’ve already started in the last few days, but I have a long way to go.

//Weekly Goals

  • Publish Blog Post 3 Times Per Week
  • See Friends Twice A Week
  • Track Income & Expenses
  • Work Out 3-5 Times Per Week

//Daily Goals

  • Physical Therapy Exercises
  • Work At Desk
  • Be Out Of Bed By 9:30 AM

Well, those are my goals for this month. I hope June will be more productive than May on account that I don’t have bronchitis anymore. It’s also the month of Ramadan and a bunch of my cousins from New York are coming for Eid. It’s going to be a lot of fun.

Oh yeah! I also chopped off my hair in May! I forgot to tell you.

What are your goals for the month of June? Do you have any exciting things planned?
