March 2018 Goals

Hey, guys, I’m sorry  I haven’t posted in two weeks. I have no valid excuse. I was binge watching a show. I broke my number rule: don’t start a new show in the middle of the semester. Wait until there’s a break.

It’s also midterm exam time, so I’ve been studying.

I stopped posting my monthly goals last year because they weren’t helping me anymore. It became kind of pointless to post them online because there were other things I wanted to write for you. I love reading other bloggers’ monthly goals and I’m glad to say that I’m going to start posting them again.

After getting the Powersheets Goal Planner, I’ve started being more intentional about my goals and writing them all down. I’ll talk more about the workbook in another post, but I have to say that I love it and I’m really proud of the progress I’ve made on a lot of my goals this year.

These aren’t all of my goals for the month of March, but this is a good chunk of them. I hope you enjoy.

//March Goals//

//Post 10 Blog Posts

This basically means publishing something 2-3 times per week. I think this is a doable goal even though I only posted seven times in February. I have to write up an editorial calendar for March, but that won’t be a problem because I have so many drafts open and not enough time to write them all.

At least I don’t have writer’s block anymore.

I would’ve been able to publish ten posts last month if it weren’t for all the Bangladesh Posts I want to write. It’s been really hard to convey my time there into words because it was such a surreal experience. How do you describe going to the place you’re from for the first time? Anyway, I’ll probably end up staggering those posts out a bit, but I’ll get them out there.

//Reread & Edit All Blog Posts

I can wholeheartedly say that I hate rereading what I write. It’s the absolute worst. I can’t count how many times I’ve written a blog post and published it without reading it first (because after a couple thousand words on a topic, I just want to move on to the next thing.)

This month, I am going to reread every single blog post I’ve written in the last two-ish years. There are other things I need to do as well like fix SEO, add affiliate links, and just basic housekeeping stuff I haven’t done in a while. I’ve written over 130 posts, so this goal is pretty daunting, but it’s better for me if I get it all done in one fell swoop instead of breaking it up over time.

//Put $500 Into Savings

This is self-explanatory. I want to put away $500 in my long-term savings account by the end of this month.

//Post Bangladesh Photos On Facebook

It’s been two months and I haven’t posted my Bangladesh pictures yet. My family keeps asking me for them, but I suck at social media. This month, I’m going to go through all the photos and post an album on Facebook. It’ll be a nice thing to look back on and my mom will be able to look through them in one place. (Right now they’re mixed up in my phone, camera, and What’s App messages from my cousins)

//Backup Photos From Old Laptop

As you can tell, I’m not good at organizing photos. I got a new laptop a few months ago, but I haven’t transferred the files from my old laptop to this one. When I get the chance to do so, I plan on backing up all my photos (of which there are many).

//Clean And Declutter Vanity

I don’t have an actual vanity, but that’s the only word I have to describe for the place I get ready. It’s pretty much on top of my chest of drawers with a mirror above it. At the beginning of Winter Break, I cleaned out my closet and got rid of a bunch of stuff (I try to do this every break), but I haven’t cleaned out my “vanity” in a long time. I’m sure there’s a lot of expired products and makeup I don’t use. I also want to organize my jewelry.

This is my way of getting started with Spring Cleaning.

//Read 2 Books; Listen To 1 Audiobook, Watch 1 New Movie

One of my New Years Resolutions was to read 12 new books and watch 12 new movies. I’m not worried about this goal at all, but I still add it to my Powersheets every month.

In February, I read four new books and listened to two audiobooks, but I don’t think I’ll be able to read as much this month. The two books I’ll probably read are The Little Book Of Hygge by Meik Wiking and Paladin by Sally Slater and I’m DEFINITELY watching Love, Simon in theatres.

//3 Psychology Research Credits

I need to have six psychology research credits by the end of the semester. Three of them were supposed to be done by the midpoint and I’m glad I got them all done in January because I didn’t have to worry about them at all last month. It was great. I want to get this done before Spring break so that I won’t have to think about research credits for the rest of the semester. I’ve already signed up for a Research Study on Monday. I only have two more left.

//Stay Ahead Of My Studies And Prepare For Midterms

I can’t believe it’s already the middle of the semester. It’s gone by so fast. I have three exams next week and I have a lot of work to do before spring break. School needs to take priority this month since there are only two months left.

//February Reflection//

At the beginning of January, I was on the other side of the world. That month pretty much consisted of me jetlagged and exhausted, starting the spring semester, and reviving after being sick.

February was awesome. I was super productive (until the last week when I started binge watching a show). I was writing a lot more and made progress on a lot of my goals. I read six books in those 28 days, which is something I’m quite proud of.

I also did a few fun things too, but it was mostly a productive, work-driven month. I went to a party on Valentines Day. Not like a college party, but a party with my parents and childhood friends. One of my mom’s friend’s birthday is on Valentines Day and everyone went to her house, so it wasn’t really a Valentine’s Day party.

One of my goals for 2018 was to be more intentional about my friendships and I saw that come to fruition this month in a way I didn’t expect. When I set that goal, I was thinking more along the lines of planning more get-togethers with my friends and going out more. I didn’t go out that much this month, but whenever I was with my friends, I would consciously be with them. I wouldn’t be on my phone or making small talk. I was genuinely there.

There are other ways I’ve seen this goal become a reality. I call and text my friends and catch up with them whenever they come to mind instead of just letting the moments pass by. It feels weird calling this a “goal” like it’s something on my to-do list because it’s not, but actually writing it down and making friendships a priority has definitely made a change in how I’ve interacted with people.

Valentines Day (I downloaded this from Facebook, so my apologies for the quality)

I also saw Rent on their 20th Anniversary tour with my friend Kat and her brother Andrew. I haven’t seen Kat since November when I visited her at Disney World and I haven’t seen her brother since I graduated high school.

That’s pretty much it in terms of February, but I have many more fun things planned for March.

I guess that’s it for now. I’m glad I’m bringing this monthly series back because I know a lot of you loved it back when I started blogging.

What are your goals for this month? How was February for you?
