9 Perks Of Having A Holiday Birthday

Hello, lovelies! It’s my birthday! 🙂 I feel like having a Thanksgiving birthday is the best of both worlds because Thanksgiving is on a different day every year. My birthday is always associated with it, but it’s not always on the actual day. I personally love it when my birthday is on Thanksgiving Day. I was genuinely excited about that at the beginning of 2020. The last time it happened was my eighteenth.

There are definitely some cons to having a holiday birthday. I know it has made it very inconvenient for my friends to come to my parties, but today, I’d like to talk about the good stuff. It just feels like a fun post to write.

//No School

I mean, this is clearly the perk most people think of. My birthday has almost always been on Thanksgiving Break. The only two times it hasn’t were my fifteenth (my school did a five day break that year) and my 21st (which was a perk because I could spend that birthday on my college campus). I enjoyed school, but I never had a problem not going to school on/around my birthday. I loved having the days off.

My 7th Birthday

//You Aren’t The Center Of Attention

As someone who hated being the center of attention as a kid, this was great. I got the presents without all the focus being on me.

//Lots Of Sales

This was both great for me and the people who bought me presents. I was always a saver, so I rarely spent all my birthday money, but having a birthday right before Black Friday (or on Black Friday) was quite convenient. I remember my 13th birthday was on Black Friday, and I spent four or five hours reading at Barnes & Noble while my mom and grandma went shopping. It was amazing.

//Time To Travel

Having a week off from school usually meant road trips for my family. I remember spending my 11th birthday in Texas (my parents threw my birthday party the weekend before), which was a lot of fun. I went to Chuck-E-Cheese with my cousins. A few years ago I went to Disney World right before my 20th birthday to visit one of my best friends, which was very fun. I’m excited about the birthday trips I can take in the future simply because I’ll have a few days off from work around my birthday.

My friend gifted me brunch at one of Disney’s restaurants. <3

//You Get To See Family

This could be a con depending on if you like your family, but I love it when family from other states visit us. It just makes my birthday all the  more fun.

//New Movies Come Out

This is one of my favorites parts of having a holiday birthday. New movies always comes out that week because the holidays are coming and for Oscar buzz. I personally love going to the movie theatres and am a huge fan of Disney and Marvel movies. At least one of them come out in November, so I always watch one the week of my birthday. I remember on my 19th birthday, I had to pick among Moana, Fantastic Beasts, and Dr. Strange and I was having such a hard time choosing (I watched Moana, which is by far better than the other two). I associate a lot of movies with my birthday (Ex. Big Hero 6 with my 17th birthday). I was pumped about Raya and the Lost Dragon coming out around my birthday this year and Black Widow back when they moved the release date from May to November, but alas, safety must come first. I’ll go to the movies next year.

My dad and I watched Interstellar on our projector downstairs this morning (12:30AM- 3:00 AM). The movie was amazing and we we were very sleepy afterwards.

//It Can Be Less Expensive

This is probably surprising to many people. It was actually cheaper for my parents to throw my birthday parties on Thanksgiving because venues were empty that day. Most of my birthday parties growing up were thrown at home, but whenever I had a birthday party at a roller rink or something, the place was completely empty, which made it a lot more fun. My 16th birthday was actually the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, but my parents threw my Sweet 16 on Thanksgiving Day because it was cheaper to rent the restaurant.

I was very sick that day

//Delicious Food

Hands down the best part about having a birthday on Thanksgiving. This perk goes along with a lot of Holiday Birthdays like Halloween and Easter. There’s just a lot of good food associated with holidays. I remember spending the afternoon of my twelfth birthday at the roller skating rink with my friends and kids in my family, then spending the evening having Thanksgiving dinner with all my cousins. It was awesome.

11-26-2009 (I don’t know why the time stamp is wrong). This was my 12th birthday

//It’s Twice The Fun

And to finish off, it is definitely twice the fun. I get birthday cakes and Thanksgiving dinner. What more could I want. 🙂

Well, that’s it for now! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
