My April 2018 Goals

Hello, everyone! I’m back with another monthly goals post. Here’s how I did on last month’s goals.

//How I Did On My March Goals//

  • Post 10 Blog Posts – (8/10) I posted 8 blog posts in the month of March. I could have posted ten times but decided against it because I have so many exams in the month of April. My time was better spent scheduling posts for this month so that I won’t have to worry about posting content during my finals.
  • Reread And Edit All Blog Posts – This was a complete fail. I didn’t go about this goal the right way and have created a new system for the month of April in order to edit the 140 blog posts I’ve written in the last two years.
  • Put $500 Into Savings – Complete. I was actually able to surpass this goal in the month of March.
  • Post Bangladesh Photos On Facebook – I did not do this, but I have a valid excuse. I didn’t have all the photos until yesterday. I spent the month compiling all the photos everyone took during my trip, which took awhile. Now that I have them all, I’ll be able to organize them and actually publish a recap of my 3-week trip. (This probably won’t happen until May because I want to focus more on school work this month.)
  • Backup Photos From Old Laptop – Complete. This is pretty self-explanatory.
  • Clean And Declutter Vanity – This is half done. I cleaned the top of my dresser but have yet to declutter it. There is a bunch of jewelry and skincare products I can stand to get rid of.
  • Read 2 Books; Finish 1 Audiobook; Watch 1 New Movie – Complete. I read/listened to six books last month and watched two new movies. I’ll review them in my monthly favorites post next week.
  • 3 Psychology Research Credits – Almost complete. There weren’t many research studies available in the month of March because of Spring Break. I completed two and signed up for a third one that will take place today. After that, I will have completed my six required research credits for this semester and won’t have to worry about them during finals.
  • Stay Ahead On My Studies And Prepare For Midterms – I actually did really well on my midterms. I got a 95% on my Global Issues midterm, which was the exam I was most worried about.

//April Goals//

This month, I want to focus more on school than anything else. My calendar is so full, it’s crazy: I have 8 Exams (Including Finals), 3 very long papers, and 14 quizzes. Since this is my last month of school, most of my goals still revolve around it. I’m not sharing those with you because they’re pretty much things like “Finish Developmental Psychology Term Paper” and such.

I’m also formatting this month’s goals post in a different way. I write my monthly, weekly, and daily goals in my Powersheets Goals Planner, but I usually only post my monthly goals. Today, I’m sharing all of them.

//Monthly Goals

  • A Lot Of School Related Goals – I’ve already explained that I have a ton of work this month.
  • Read 3 Books; Watch 1 New Movie – Even though I’m so busy, I have a pile of books I need to read before I return them to the library, so I want to read at least 3. One of my 2018 goals was to watch 12 new books and 12 new movies, so I always add this to my monthly goals. I think the new movie I’ll watch will be Breakfast At Tiffany’s because it’s a classic I’ve never seen and was added to Netflix recently.
  • Meet Up With A Friend – Because it’s going to be such a busy month, I will probably forego social time. This goal will make me get out of my house and plan a get-together with a friend at some point.
  • Add $500 To Savings My Savings Account – I’ve been doing this every month since February and I think it’s a good monthly goal to have in order to build my savings up even more.
  • Move Everything To New Phone – My dad switched our family’s phone plans, so we all got new phones. I haven’t set everything up on my new phone yet and need to do that this month.
  • Post Bangladesh And Canada Photos On Facebook – I’ve compiled all the photos. I just have to organize them and put them in albums on Facebook for my family to see.
  • Respond To All Blog Comments – I used to be very vigilant when it came to responding to blog comments, but I stopped replying some time last fall. I read all of them because I have to approve them, but I haven’t made time to reply. One day this month,  I will put aside 30 minutes to reply to all the comments.

//Weekly Goals

  • Post A Blog Post – I am only posting once a week this month. You will get two posts a week this week and next week on Monday and Thursday. After that, you will get a post every Monday. One of them will be a repost from the archives.
  • Work Out Twice A Week – If you’ve been reading along, I pinched a nerve in my back during my trip to Bangladesh and have been experiencing a lot of back pain for the last three and a half months. It’s finally started subsiding and I am so ready to start working out regularly again. I’m only going to do cardio for now, but I’ll hopefully start weightlifting again this summer.
  • Journal – One of my 2018 goals was to write every day. Journaling has been one of my weekly goals all year and I’ve been doing a really good job following it so far.
  • Track Income And Expenses – Self-explanatory. I normally rely on Mint  or my bank statement to track this, but I want to start writing it down. This will hold me more accountable and I will be able to see what I spend most of my money on.

//Daily Goals

  • Wake Up Before 9:00 – I’ve been failing at the “waking up early” goal, but I’m slowly improving. I’m starting to naturally wake up before my alarm (8:30 AM), but I need to work on getting out of bed and ready for the day without laying around for an hour.
  • Work At Desk – I have a bad habit of working and studying on my bed.
  • Duolingo Spanish – I started using Duolingo to practice my Spanish back in February but fell out of the habit mid-March. I would like to start again because I don’t want to forget the 5 years I spent in Spanish class.
  • Reread An Old Blog Post Month – This is my new system for rereading and editing all my blog posts. Since starting Making My Way in May of 2016, I have written on average of 6-7 blog posts each month. My plan is to go through one month of blog posts each day this month, slowly adding affiliate links, improving SEO, and fixing grammatical mistakes.
  • Dance – I kind of added this to my daily to-dos last minute after dancing around my room. I thought, “Why not?” and jotted it down as one of my daily goals. It’ll be fun and will remind me to move my body.

//March Reflection//

March was a really great month. I feel like I say that every month, but this year seems to be getting better and better (so far). I’ve been a lot more productive when it comes to schoolwork, but I want to become more consistent when it comes to blogging.

The highlight of this month was definitely my trip to Canada. It was my second time out of the country, which was exciting. I saw my childhood best friend, cousin, and nephew and was able to cross Niagra Falls off my bucket list (the first time I went was when I was a baby, but that doesn’t count.)

Needless to say, blog posts about the trip are coming up, but I linked the post I wrote about the planning process below. (The way everything came together is kind of unbelievable. The timing was perfect)

Other than that, the month was pretty chill. I went out to eat with a few friends and caught up on school work. The spring weather has been killing me. I’ve been having so many asthma and allergy problems that I find myself missing Bangladesh (Apparently, I’m not allergic to the dust there according to my doctor) because of all my congestion problems.

A downside of this month was that I had to go to the dentist because a piece of my tooth broke off (long story short, my front tooth is fake because my younger brother broke it when I was six, so I’ve been through this before) and I have to get another crown. That’s going to a whole thing that I don’t want to think about right now. You can’t see the whole because it’s behind the tooth, but I can feel it with my tongue.

Anyway, that’s pretty much it. I could go into way more detail recapping this month, but this post has already surpassed 1400 words. I’ll update you all more in my next post.

I’m going to a quarterly update of my 2018 resolutions in a few days, so stay tuned.

What are your goals for this month? How are you preparing for final exams?
