My May Goals | 2019 Powersheets

Hello, lovelies! April has been a very busy and productive month. I managed to complete all my monthly goals. May is going to be a special month because the majority of the month will be spent in Europe. There aren’t many concrete goals for the month of May, but there are still a few to-dos I’d like to share. I hope you enjoy.

//How I Did In April//

  • Register For Classes – Complete. Normally, everything is finalized last minute during the summer, but I finalized everything within a week.
  • Finalize Trip To Europe (Packing, Budget, Etc.) – I finalized everything I wanted to finish last month. I’m not going to pack until final exams are over, but I bought a new carry-on, got travel insurance, set a budget, etc. The trip finally started feeling real in April because mostly everything is planned. I’m getting excited!
  • Create Finals Study Plan – Complete. I had an absurd amount of papers, exams, and presentations unrelated to finals. Adding final papers and exams to the mix made April a very busy month. I wouldn’t have survived without this plan because there was a lot to keep track of (more than nine papers and presentations, not including exams).
  • Finish Papers & Presentations Early – Complete. Normally, I finish papers the night before, but I was really good about finishing assignments early since there were so many of them. The only time I lagged was the weekend Avengers: Endgame came out because I felt depressed and spent hours reading Fanfiction. (I still finished those last papers on time).
  • Read 9 Books – Normally, this is my easiest goal, but it ended up being my hardest. The physical book I’m reading isn’t the type of book you fly through, so I’ve been slowly getting through it throughout the month (I will have finished it by the time you read this) and I was also in a bit of a slump at the beginning of the month. I still ended up finishing more than nine books, but a few of them were graphic novels.
  • Get Ahead On Blog Posts – I am so proud of myself. I’ve scheduled out all the blog posts that will come out during my Europe trip. I cut back my posting schedule to once a week, but I’ve been writing 2-3 posts per week including the articles I wrote for Her Campus.
  • Weekly Goals
    • Blog Once A Week – Complete.
    • Go Out Twice A Week – Complete. Even though I was busy, I made time to go out and have fun in the last month of the semester.
    • Work Out 3-4 Times Per Week – This was a fail. I worked out regularly at the beginning of the month, but pretty much stopped in the last two weeks. I would have made time to exercise, but I just didn’t have the mental energy to go to the gym.
  • Daily
    • Physical Therapy – I only do physical therapy when I go to the gym and since I skipped out on the gym in the middle of the month, I didn’t do physical therapy. (My back is still feeling better, I just need to work on it more)
    • Take Vitamins – Complete
    • Take A Picture – I don’t take pictures of my day to day life as often as I did in high school, which is why I’ve been setting this goal. I still haven’t been taking pictures of my day-to-day, but I did a better job taking more pictures during events (Thanks to my mom, who has asked me to take more family pictures). I also finally made an album on Facebook to add pictures from this year. My extended family can stop complaining 🙂

//May Goals//

//Finish Schoolwork & Move Out by May 3rd

My flight to Europe is on May 8th and my last final and paper due date are on May 7th. I have moved the final to the week before and plan on finishing the paper by May 3rd so that I can move out early and spend a few days relaxing and preparing for the trip without worrying about school work.

//Make Two Trip Folders

One for me and one for my parents. I have all the travel information compiled online, but I want to have physical copies of tour dates, hostel confirmations, tickets, etc. in a three prong folder just in case. I’m also giving my parents a copy to give them some peace of mind.

//Pack Bags & Download Entertainment

I bought a new carry on and wrote out a packing list. The only thing left to do is to pack. I also need to download movies, audiobooks, and T.V. shows on my tablet for entertainment while traveling between different countries.

//Finish 5 Books

I’ve been finishing around ten books per month since the start of the year. Since I’m going to be traveling for the majority of the month, I’m cutting my reading goal in half. I’m already ahead on my “100 books in a year” goal, so this shouldn’t make me fall behind.

//Stay Healthy While Traveling

I’m not worried about exercise because I’ll be walking every day. It’s more about the food. The yummy delicious food. I’m not swearing off bread, cheese, and pastries, but I want to remember to eat fruits and vegetables because one month of unhealthy food will not make my body happy. I want to enjoy every second while I’m there. Not feel stuffed and lethargic.

//Publish Travel Diaries On Blog

I’m not going to be super strict with this goal because I don’t want to force myself to write blog posts. I know that I will write things on my own, but I still want to publish some things in real time while I’m on my trip instead of just telling you about it after the fact. If all goes well, you all may end up getting two posts a week next month instead of one since I already have other blog posts scheduled for every Wednesday.

//Very Busy With The Last Month Of School

Again, work took up the majority of this month. If I wasn’t writing a paper, I was working on a presentation, if I wasn’t doing that, I was studying for an exam, and if there was nothing else to do, I was writing blog posts. It was honestly non-stop work and studying, so hopefully, it all paid off.

//Pohela Boishak (Bengali New Year)

We threw a party like we do every year, only this year it was hosted at my cousins’ house. Normally, we do it at our house since it’s easier for Mysoon*, but my cousins’ bought a new house last summer and they want to host more. Since Mysoon is comfortable there, my mom was happy to let them. It was the most relaxing Pohela Boishak ever. Instead of cleaning and helping my mom host, I was able to finish homework and enjoy the night at their house.

* Mysoon is my brother who has autism.

//My Grandparents’ 51st Anniversary

We went out to eat with a bunch of family for my grandparents’ 51st anniversary. Their actual anniversary was on a Thursday, so we celebrated the Sunday after. One of my best friend’s birthday happens to be the same day as their anniversary, and I celebrated with her that night (Then proceeded to finish an essay after returning from the restaurant)

//Avengers: Endgame (Spoiler Free)

I drove the hour back to Atlanta to watch Endgame with my brother the day before it came out, then drove back to campus on Friday morning. (I have no regrets). I don’t know how I feel about this movie. I definitely liked Infinity War better, but I loved how creative the plot was in this one. I really appreciated the nods to previous movies in this finale and I’m glad I rewatched all of them recently because I could understand even the small cameos.

My biggest problem with this movie is that they messed with the integrity of a lot of the characters. Some of their character development went backward or wasn’t elaborated enough. I’m okay with the fact that they killed people (that was expected) but it was still heartbreaking. I really don’t know what to say. I kind of never want to watch it again, which is something I’ve never felt about an MCU movie. I think I’ll like it more upon rewatch, but I was in such a state of melancholy the day after watching it that I don’t want to put myself through that torture again. (I genuinely hate some of the character arcs, and the only arcs that made sense were those of the ones who died)

The vast majority of my May goals will be completed within the next week. The main thing I want to do in the month of May is to enjoy my trip and to drink it all in. There’s nothing like traveling somewhere new.
