My December Goals & November Reflection | 2020

Okay…so I already wrote this post, but it didn’t freaking save! Now I have to write it again. Fuck.

Last Month’s Post My November Goals & October Reflection | 2020

//How I Did In November//

  • Register For Classes – Complete. I did this pretty early on, which is weird considering I’ve historically waited until the last minute.
  • Complete Sexual Assault Prevention Thing For School – Complete. I had to do this before registering for classes. I wonder if I’ll have to keep taking this mini-course when I get another Master’s or a PhD. I had to take it twice in undergrad because I transferred.
  • Complete 2021 Powersheets Prep – Complete. I not only did this, but set my goals for 2021. I did a few pages every day and one day, I got the urge to plan out all my goals for next year instead of waiting till December. I feel slightly better about 2021 now. It’s still gonna suck like 2020, but at least I have a direction.
  • Organize Closet – Nope. I’ll do it next month. I could honestly knock this out in an hour. It looks messier than it is.
  • Finish Avatar with Stellah – F*cking finally. This was over a year in the making, but she has finally finished the show. It was a fun ride.
  • Finish Half Of All Final Projects – Kind of. The last two weeks have been very stressful. My goal was to finish three projects and I finished 2.5. I honestly could’ve finished four, but my grandpa had to go to the hospital. Then he came back and had to go to the hospital again. So I fell kind of behind on school and genuinely just caught up today (December 8th). He should be okay though. And the semester is almost over.
  • Read 5 Books – 4/5. I don’t mind though because all four of those books were really good. November was also a very movie heavy month. I watched eleven movies and some episodes of quite a few shows.

//My December Goals//

//Finish All School Work By December 11th

I technically have until December 13th for my last two assignments, but I want to finish everything by the eleventh so that I can have a full month off from school.

//Schedule End of Year Blog Posts

Namely, my 2020 year in review. My years in review typically take me weeks to write and I haven’t even started this year’s.  I also didn’t take many photos (not even pre-quarantine), so that’s gonna be a little tough. I’m going to reread old blog posts and journal entries because this year was genuinely a blur.

Expect at least one post a week this month. I’m probably going to overload myself and do two blog posts per week because I always do that. Plus I want to post my Avatar: The Last Airbender episode rankings.

//Deep Clean Room

It was not cold in Georgia until December 1st, so we didn’t need to turn the heater on. We had to get it repaired first, which worked out fine because the weather was so mild. Our house became so dusty. Not in a “you can see dust on the furniture” way. We’ve all just been having awful allergies since we turned the heater on. It’s been particularly terrible because we didn’t experience the typical spring and fall allergies this year after staying inside, so it’s been a minute since we’ve had these symptoms.

Once finals are over, I’m going to wipe down and vacuum everything. My curtains haven’t been washed in a decade, so that’s also happening. I’ll also organize my closet while I’m at it. It’ll be nice to go into the New Year with a fresh room.

Finish Unread Books On Bookshelf

I have two books and a graphic novel left. I fell behind on this 2020 goal, but I think I’ll still manage to complete it before the end of the year.

//Update Blog’s About Me Page

This has been on my monthly goals list multiple times, but I have yet to do it. The photos in my current About Me page are the ones I put when I started this blog in 2016, so I really need to update it.

//Vote!

I’ve already ordered and received our absentee ballots. If you haven’t been living under a rock, you know that the runoff election in Georgia is extremely important. The calls, texts, advertisements, and letters have been incessant, but hopefully they’ll make a difference. If you live in Georgia, order your absentee ballot as soon as possible. If you plan to vote in person, early voting starts December 14th and ends on January 1st. Senate election day is January 5th.

//Cut My Own Hair

This has been a long time coming. I have very thin hair to begin with, but it gets thinner the longer it gets. I haven’t gotten a haircut in a year and a half, so this was well overdue. There are a bunch of other reasons my hair has been getting thinner: genetics, alopecia, stress, switching to a non-all-natural shampoo (because I didn’t want to spend money on another bottle of natural shampoo, so I used my brothers. My hair literally stopped falling out when I bought my shampoo again). The main reason is definitely the length. I don’t get split ends. I get swollen ends, which basically means that the bottom strands of my hair get thicker and the top strands get thinner. The weight makes it fall out, so I needed to cut my hair.

Spoiler alert: I cut my own hair for the first time last week and I LOVE IT. I wish I had done it sooner. It ended up being easier than I thought. I now understand how YA protagonists in dystopian books/movies look so good when they chop off their hair on whim in one of the sequels. It’s great.

//Watch All The Star Wars Movies

I haven’t re-watched Star Wars in about five years, so when Disney+ was released, I was sure I would watch all three trilogies. It’s been a year and that hasn’t happened yet, so I’m making it a goal. I’m not really a die hard Star Wars fan. I enjoy it. I appreciate it for what it is, but the obsession fades when I don’t watch it for years. I’m sure I’m going to fall in love and become obsessed with it again by the end of this month, so I’m gonna have fun with this.

//November Reflection//

I don’t really want to write this again because November was a lot. It started with the election and ended with my grandfather going to the hospital, so it was quite stressful. (He is doing okay, but he’s still at the hospital).

And yeah…I just don’t want to write about that again. Trump losing was a relief. Everyone just seemed so much more relaxed once the election stress was over. And Georgia turned blue!!!! I was so freaking happy! It felt like a dream. I would’ve been happy if any of the southern states turned blue despite the voter suppression, but I’m pumped that it was Georgia.

Eventually the relief faded, and I’m honestly not that happy about Biden and Harris being in charge (I’m overjoyed that Trump and his cabinet are leaving). There are so many problems and I don’t want us to go back to where we were before Trump won. We sucked back then too. We just had better PR.

I last minute celebrated my birthday with my friends last month, which was really fun. The weather was perfect. The cold didn’t come to Georgia until December 1st, so the weather was very mild on Thanksgiving. Twenty-two kind of sucked. Even pre-pandemic, December to February weren’t the best, but hopefully 23 will be better.

I’m just gonna end it here. I’ve already written this blog post twice and don’t feel like adding pictures. I’m in the middle of finals, so I got stuff to do. I hope you enjoyed. I’ll see you next time!
