My October 2018 Goals

Hello, lovelies! I’m back with another monthly goals post. I hope you enjoy.

Last Month’s Post – My September 2018 Goals

//How I Did Last Month//

  • Create A Budget – Complete. I wrote an entire blog post about it here.
  • Read 4 Books – Compete.
  • Reread And Edit All Blog Posts – Ongoing. I’ve written too many blog posts to reread and edit in a month. By the end of the year, I would like to have the SEO and typos in all of them fixed.
  • Stay On Top Of School (Self-Discipline) – Complete. After such a hectic month, it was nice to get back into a routine. I started waking up early, working more and studied on a regular schedule. Self-Discipline was a word that I kept on my mind all month because I really wanted to get my act together when it came to school (It was not a huge focus in August).
  • Blog Twice A Week – Nope. School was my main focus in September, but I did start getting in the habit of writing more. You guys will get a lot more posts in October.
  • Meet Up With A Friend Twice A Week – Complete.
  • Work Out 3-5 Days Per Week – Complete. It was nice getting back into a regular workout routine after almost a year. I haven’t been working out as intensely as before because of my back, but it’s nice to be back at the gym.

//October Goals//

In the month of October, I plan on focusing mostly on schoolwork and blogging regularly.

//Do All Readings Early

Up until a week ago, I’ve been reading the textbook chapters last minute (if I read them at all). This month, I want to read the textbook chapters before class. I should’ve been doing this anyway, but I find that my time is better spent answering questions and reading the power points. I want to try something different this month and see if it works for me.

//Finish 3 Books

I was barely able to finish four books last month, so I’m just attempting to finish three in October. I’ve already surpassed my 2018 goal of finishing 50 books, so I’m not going to push myself too much as long as I still make time to read for pleasure.

//Join Another Club

I’ve only joined one club this semester, but I want to join another. I already know which club, but I’ve been procrastinating on emailing them to join.

//Reread July to November 2017 Blog Posts

I’m putting a new spin on an old goal. I’ve been slowly making my way through all the blog posts I’ve written since 2016, but I’m going to be more specific about the goal this month and see if it helps motivate me. I need to fix the SEO, add social media links, and edit all of them.

//Create A Study Plan For October And Follow Through

I did this for September and it was a game changer. I always make study plans for midterms and finals, but I think I’m going to make one for regular weeks as well. I’m sure this will help me stay on top of everything and study for exams well in advance.

//Book A Plane Ticket

I haven’t traveled anywhere since my Spring Break Trip to Canada and I really want to take a trip (or two) at the end of this year. I haven’t decided where yet, but I’ve learned that when it comes to travel, I wait until the last minute and the only thing that makes a trip real is to book the plane ticket.

I don’t know about you, but the process of booking a plane ticket makes my heart race and it’s something I need to get used to. The prospect of this goal is both exciting and terrifying because I like being mentally prepared for things and I have no idea what to expect or where I’m going.

//Blog Twice A Week

I’ve been failing at this goal for the last three months, so I understand if you don’t believe me anymore. I’ve written out a content calendar for the month of October (something I haven’t done in an embarrassingly long time) and have been following it so far. I’ll try to keep this up for the rest of the month.

//Daily + Weekly Goals

(Here are some weekly goals and daily habits I’m keeping track of this month in my goal planner)

  • Work Out 4-5 Times Per Week
  • Wake Up Early
  • Go To Class On Time
  • Daily Self-Care
  • Meet Up With A Friend 2x Per Week
  • Watch 1 Halloween Movie Per Week (5 Movies)

//September Recap & Reflection//

September was a pretty normal and boring month, which I’m incredibly grateful for. After the world wind of activity that was August, it was nice to get into a routine and be productive. And phew, was I productive? This was the most productive month I’ve had all year. I followed a study schedule, started going to the gym every weekday, woke up early, and still managed to practice self-care.

For a while, I’ve been waiting for the other shoe to drop because something always comes up when things are going so well for me, but I’ve been pretty consistent with my schedule (with only one or two days where I’ve overslept, which is understandable).

I’ve been getting used to living on my own and my family has been adjusting to everything. I will write a post about leaving my special needs sibling in about a few months because I don’t think two months is enough time to process everything, but I do have a moving-update post scheduled on my editorial calendar, so I’ll elaborate more there.

I did a bunch of fun things this month. We spent a Sunday with my cousins and family friends at one of their houses. They have a huge lake in their backyard, so people were fishing, eating good food, and playing with the cat. It was a fun day. I also went to a roller-skating event at my university with one of my best friends.

But there were also a lot of fun little moments like trying new restaurants with my roommate and reading books in the bookstore (instead of buying them ?). Little things like that have made life pretty amazing.

If I keep this up, the next three months will be as good as the last.

Until next time…
