My September Goals | 2019 Powersheets

Hello, lovelies! Happy, September. Can you believe we’ve finished TWO-THIRDS of this year? Every time I think that 2019 has gone by quickly, I think of the beginning of the year when I went to Harry Potter World, which feels like forever ago. I know people say time flies, but a crazy amount of stuff has happened in the last eight months, so it feels longer.

August was an extremely hectic month for me, which is why I think I set so many goals this month. I will have significantly more free time compared to the last few weeks, so I want to take advantage of the extra time. With that said, here are my September Goals.

//How I Did In August//

  • Send Internship Mentors Thank You Notes  – Complete. This took a really long time because I worked under at least thirty people and I stuffed all the envelopes with chocolate.
  • Make X Amount of Money – I didn’t work at all last month, so I didn’t reach my income goal. I could only choose two out of three categories: school, family, and work, so work got the short end of the stick.
  • Completely Set Up & Decorate Dorm Room – I haven’t done this. You’ll hear more about it later, but I basically wasn’t in my dorm for the majority of the month. I didn’t have time to fully move in. In the second week, I was wondering why I felt so off while studying in my room when I realized that it was because there were no decorations. My mood instantly lifted when I started hanging up a few photos and a poster. I’m not close to done yet, but I’ll have everything set up soon.
  • Create An Assignment List – Complete.
  • Finish 9 Books – Complete.
  • Take Care Of Mysoon – I managed to do this. I was able to go back and forth from school, feed him and everyone else, do the laundry, and still managed to get my school work done. Honestly, the only reason was able to do this was that there wasn’t as much work the first two weeks of school. The third week was pretty rough school-wise, plus my grandmother was out of town, so I had to do all the cooking. I survived.
  • Get In A Study Routine – Complete. I’m actually very proud of it since I’ve never really had a set consistent studying routine. You’ll see a post about it in the next few weeks.

//September Goals//

//Update Linked-In Profile & Resume

I actually wanted to get this done anyway because my internship just ended, but I have added incentive to do it sooner because my social psychology professor assigned this as homework. I honestly haven’t done anything with my Linked-In since opening it in February, so it needs some attention.

//Do A Financial Check-In

I’ve done this since coming back from Europe in that I’ve checked my bank account and credit score, but I haven’t done a hard check-up where I write things down and set financial goals for the rest of the year. This will definitely take priority in September.

//Meet With Academic Advisor

I have to check in with my advisor anyway in order to register for classes next semester, but I also want to meet with him early because I’m graduating this year. I was kind of worried about how many credits I need to graduate, but then I checked Degreeworks a few days ago and saw that I’ve done 115 out of the 120 credit hours I need to graduate.

I’ve taken the maximum amount of classes you can take for multiple semesters now because I’m paranoid and don’t like being behind on things. I guess I took that to an extreme since I only really need 1.5 more classes. This got me thinking that if I had just taken one summer to take those classes, I would be graduating in December.

I’m not sad about this at all. My parents have been talking to me about graduating early for years, but I told them that I want to enjoy the four years of college I have. I guess I’ll have a lot of legroom to take more fun classes and apply for jobs next semester.

//Finish 9 Books

For my 100 books in a year goal. I’ve read 67 books so far this year, so I should reach my goal by December.

//Get Projects Done Early!!!

This month is absolutely insane school-wise. I have more assignments and exams this month than I do any other month for the rest of the semester. Because of that, I want to get a lot of assignments and projects done early so that I won’t have to stress about them too much. I’ve already gotten started on a few.

//Set Up Dorm Room

I was only really in my dorm room two days per week, so it’s pretty barren. I took clothes home to do laundry and didn’t bring clothes back a few times, so there was this one day where I had no pajamas to wear. I also got a really bad paper cut and didn’t have any bandaids. Anyway, I plan on fully moving in and decorating this week. I’m ready for it to feel like home.

//Upload All Travel Photos & Update 2019 Facebook Album

I’ve uploaded more than half my travel photos to an album on Facebook, and I would like to cross that task off my to-do list. Going through photos takes a long time, but it’s completely worth it to me since I love looking back at photos on Facebook (It’s much more organized and easier to view than my desktop folders). I would also like to update my 2019 album. I have a history of never finishing my yearly albums, and I would like to break that habit this year. (The only time I updated it was in April back when I created the album, and the only reason I made the album was that my uncle joked that I take so many pictures at family gatherings but no one ever sees them.)

//Weekly Goals

  • Post Two Blog Posts Per Week – Ideally. I will post every Tuesday, but I would like to post every Friday as well. We’ll see how my school work affects this.
  • Post Her Campus Article – I’m a part of UGA’s Her Campus chapter, so I write articles for their site every week. This means I’ll end up writing three blog posts per week in September if I manage to update more on this blog.
  • Take a Salsa And/Or Ballroom Dance Class – Since it’s my last year, I want to take advantage of all the free dance classes. There’s a salsa class every Sunday and a Ballroom Dance class every Thursday. I may take the Swing Dancing class on Mondays, as well. It’s a fun alternative to going to the gym. (I want to get back to exercising five days a week)
  • See A Friend Twice A Week – Sounds easy in theory, but difficult in practice.

//Daily

  • Slow SeptemberSimply Fiercely is doing a month-long series to help people slow down a bit this month. Every day, she emails a simple prompt to help us slow down. It’s been great so far and I recommend it if you’re interested.
  • Study – Because I have two exams this week and more coming up.
  • Move Your Body – I would specifically like to weight lift twice a week and take more dance classes.
  • Take Vitamins

//August Recap//

//The Last Leg of Summer

The first half of August was the tail end of summer. My brothers’ classes started in the first week, but mine didn’t until the 14th. I did my internship until the last possible day before heading back to school. We went to the pool, had a barbecue with our cousins, spent time with family and friends on Eid. and went to the movies a few times. It was fun.

//My Mom Went To Bangladesh And I Helped Take Care Of My Brother For Three Weeks

Easily the defining factor of August. I’m going to write all about this next week, so stay tuned. I’ve also talked about this in my last post, so there’s no need to repeat myself.

//My Senior Year Started

It hasn’t fully hit me that it’s my last year of college. This is mostly because I was barely on campus last month, but it’s hard to believe that I’ll have a degree at the end of this year and will eventually get a job and be an actual grown-up.  I’m excited to see what this year will bring.

Well, that’s it for now. My goals are pretty ambitious this month (I didn’t even share all of them) but doable. I’ll be gaining back multiple hours a week, so I don’t have many excuses.
