My November 2018 Powersheets Goals

Hey, guys. I’m back with another monthly goals post. I hope you enjoy.

Last Month’s Goals – My October 2018 Goals

//How I Did Last Month//

  • Do All Readings Early – Complete. I used to do a lot of the reading right before or after the class. This month, I made it a goal to preread the chapters before my professor lectured and I’ve noticed a huge difference in how I retain the lesson. I won’t do this for all my classes from now on because I know which courses this is most impactful for, but it was definitely a learning experience.
  • Finish 3 Books – Complete. Mainly via audiobooks.
  • Join Another Club – Postponed. I emailed the other club I want to join, but they’re not accepting anyone until the Spring semester. I’m fine with that since I have so much to do anyway.
  • Reread July Through November 2017 Blog Posts – Almost Complete. This is the most progress I’ve made in one go and I’m really proud. I’ve fixed the SEO and typos in most of the blog posts from those six months and plan on finishing this weekend.
  • Create A Study Plan For October & Follow Through – Complete.
  • Book A Plane Ticket – Nope. I have no idea where I’ll be going next and barely even thought about this goal with everything going on. There are so many options and various windows of time in the next two months to travel. I’ll figure it out eventually.
  • Blog Twice A Week – Half-Complete. I posted 7 blog posts last month. I posted twice a week for the first two weeks and once a week for the rest of the month. I wish I had done better, but I was much more focused on school in the month of October. Seven is the average number of blog posts for most months in my last two and a half years of blogging, so I’m glad to be posting regularly again. I’ll try to do better in November.
  • Work Out 4-5 Times Per Week – Complete. Not including the days I had a fever, I worked out every day I was on campus. I’m really proud of myself and am noticing the difference in my body.

//Create A Finals Study Plan

Finals start two weeks after Thanksgiving break and I want to plan ahead to prepare for them. I’m taking the maximum amount of credit hours my university allows, so I have a lot of exams to study for, papers to write, and ASL videos to film. I want to get ahead on that as soon as possible.

//Finish 5 Books

My recent goal refresh was to read 70 books by the end of the year. I’ve surpassed sixty books, so I want to read around 10 books in the next two months. Last month was crazy and I had a ridiculous amount of school work, but reading five books is doable in November.

//Celebrate Birth Week

I’m turning 21 this month and I’m one of those annoying people who celebrate the entire week of their birthday. This wasn’t on purpose. I was a Thanksgiving baby and my birthday fell on Thanksgiving break 95% of the time, so I associated all the fun things from that week with my birthday. This year is one of the years that my birthday doesn’t fall on Thanksgiving, so I want to celebrate as much as I can while I’m on break. I’m a low maintenance person. When I say celebrate, I mean things like going to the movies with my brothers, going to the bookstore, hanging out with friends…things like that. Weekends always fly by, so I don’t have much time when I’m back home in Atlanta. Thanksgiving break will be the longest stretch of time I will be home since July, so I want to spend a lot of time with my people there.

//Post All Travel Recaps

There is genuinely something wrong with me.  It’s been almost a year and I still haven’t posted my Bangladesh Trip recaps. I have them outlined and have written a lot, but I just haven’t pushed myself to publish any of them. That ends now. I will publish both my Bangladesh Recaps and Canada Trip Recap this month. I promise you this. I’m only promising the recaps because I think it will take me longer to write my “Going To the Place You’re From For The First time: Expectation vs. Reality” post, so only expect three travel posts.

//Do Most Readings Early

This basically translates to stay on top of school. This month isn’t as packed as last month and I’ve learned which classes I should read early for, so I’m not going to be as structured as I was in October. I just want to stay ahead.

//Book A Plane Ticket

I have no idea where I’m going. My goal for 2018 was to travel to another continent and I haven’t done that yet. Well, technically I celebrated New Years in Asia and had stopovers in Europe on the way back to Atlanta, but that doesn’t count. I’ve traveled a lot in my life, but I haven’t traveled if that makes any sense. I’ve been to almost half of the states in the U.S and have visited places like New York and Washing ton D.C multiple times, but I’ve barely left the U.S. My first time outside the country was less than a year ago.

I’m also open to going somewhere domestic. I reread the Harry Potter series this year and I kind of want to visit The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter again, but I was in Orlando last Thanksgiving and I really want to go someplace new. We’ll see. You guys will probably find out soon after I do.

//Reread January To June 2017 Blog Posts

This should be a lot easier than the July to December 2017 blog posts because I didn’t write as much in the first 6 months of 2017. Along with rereading and editing those blog posts, I want to fix their SEO, add related posts, and social media links to them because a lot of my old blog posts don’t have them.

//Meet With Advisor And Register For Spring Classes

This is more of a to-do list task than a goal, but I wrote it down in my Powersheets to remind myself to go and to go early. I’m not familiar with the registering system at my new school, so I want to be prepared.

//Blog Plan For November & December

I have a fun blog series planned for December that I’m super excited about, but I need to plan for it. There are also a lot of other behind the scenes blog related things I want to get done before the year and over, so I need to make a plan for them.

//Weekly Goals

  • Complete Your First 1K Module – This is an e-course that I purchased and haven’t completed yet. School comes first, so I doubt I’ll finish this course by the end of the month, but I want to complete at least one module per week.
  • Meet With A Friend 2x Per Week – I have a tendency to put work and school above social time, so I need to make actual plans with my friends in order to meet up with them regularly.
  • Track Income & Expenses – I fell behind on this last month and it’s super stressful to do it all at once. I want to stay on top of tracking everything in my excel sheet.
  • Post 2 Blog Posts Per Week– This probably won’t happen, but I post more often when I aim high.

//October Recap & Reflection//

This month has been crazy fun and productive and full. Let’s start with the less fun stuff. I had a root canal (which wasn’t that painful) and I got an ear infection and fever (Those were on separate occasions. Not together). I was supposed to get this root canal eight months ago, but I didn’t have dental insurance. It went fine. My family has crap teeth and to give you context, in a span of three weeks, three of us cousins got root canals.

I also got sick for the first time since moving out. It was pretty terrible and I’m going to write about how to survive to get sick in college because I learned a lot from that experience. Remember last month, when everything was going really well and I said I was antsy waiting for the other shoe to drop. I don’t feel that way anymore because it finally did!

Aside from those two setbacks, this month has been amazing. Homecoming was this month and I went to a lot of really fun events. My friend, who is biologically my aunt but is younger than me, came to visit Atlanta for her Fall Break and we visited the Georgia Aquarium. I haven’t been there since middle school and they added a bunch of stuff. There were SeaWorld level live shows there.

I also threw a Harry Potter themed Halloween Party with my best friend from middle school. Party is a strong word for it, but my favorite types of parties are the ones with less than ten people where you can actually hear each other speak. We all dressed up. I was about to dress up as a witch because I was hosting it, but my friend Shouni wanted to dress as Miss Marvel and didn’t want to be the only one in full costume, so I changed my costume to Wonder Woman.

These lovelies

The last week of October was very eventful. Sure, there were Halloween parties, but the most eventful thing was when my roommate set a fire in the kitchen and our entire building had to be evacuated. That’s a story for another time.

I guess that’s an interesting enough stopping point. It’s been an amazing month and I can’t wait to see what November brings.
