My College Evening Routine | Dorm Edition

Hello, lovelies. I published the dorm edition for my college morning routine on Monday, so I decided to post my evening routine next. The thing is that my evening routine hasn’t changed that much since moving on campus. I’m just able to stay up a little longer and sleep in a little later. This has done wonders for my time, but my routine is largely the same. I hope you all still enjoy. Sorry if it’s a little repetitive, but most routines are.

1. // Stop Working

I usually stop working at around midnight. My roommate goes to sleep at 10:30, so I work with a lamp on. Surprisingly, this ends up being my most productive time all day. I’m just so much more focused because I don’t have the urge to read or watch videos. I just finish what I’m doing quickly and turn off my laptop.

2. // Journal

This has been a relatively recent habit. I don’t do it every night because I’ve learned that I’m not the type of person who can follow specific habits every single day. I don’t pressure myself whenever I don’t want to journal. Because I don’t feel guilty for skipping days, I still enjoy it. You’d think I’d be sick of writing considering all the writing I do for school, this blog, and Her Campus, but I guess I’m just a writer at heart. I journal in all hours of the day, but I mainly do it at night before I go to sleep.

3. // Do Dishes

This is my least favorite chore, which is why I put it off until it’s time for me to go to sleep. I usually don’t wash the dishes or tupperware immediately after lunch. I wait until I’ve prepared and eaten dinner before washing them all at once so that I don’t have to do the chore twice.

3. // Change Into Pajamas

After I dry the dishes, I change into my pajamas.

4. //Head To Bathroom, Wash Face, Brush Teeth, Floss, Etc.

This is the basic night routine stuff. I don’t think I need to explain it to you.

5. // Skincare Routine

My skincare routine is pretty much exactly the same as the one I posted a few years ago, except I use a different moisturizer. I still use the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Scrub and toner. Now, I use an African black soap moisturizer. I still get bad acne breakouts from time to time, but they don’t happen nearly as often as they used to.  And it’s usually hormonal acne when it does happen.

6. // Lay Out Clothes For Next Day + Pack Bag

Once I’ve washed my face and brushed my teeth, I prepare for the next day by laying out my clothes on my desk chair and packing my bag.

7. // Take Off Contacts, Put On Retainer, Take Allergy Medicine & Inhaler

These are just daily things I have to do. I have really bad environmental allergies, so I have to take pills every night year-round and get allergy shots every month. There have been a few times this semester where I’ve fallen asleep without taking it then waking up in the middle of the night with my nose blocked. It’s a step that I cannot skip without consequences. I also take off my contacts every night and wear my retainer because I don’t want to get braces again.

8. // Turn Off Lamp And Read Kindle Until I Fall Asleep

After that, I turn off my lamp and read Fanfiction or Wattpad on my Kindle until I fall asleep. I should probably read “real” books for my reading goal, but I don’t like getting out of bed to turn off the lights after I’ve settled in. I’d rather just read on my Kindle in blue light filter mode and putting it down when I’m sleeping. It’s just more convenient (Plus I enjoy reading Fanfiction, don’t judge me).

Well, that’s it for now. I’m sorry for all the short posts recently, but at least you’re getting three this week. I would like to start getting back to long-winded posts next month, but we’ll see how that goes. Until next time!
