My August Goals & July Reflection | 2020

Hello, lovelies! Happy August. Can you believe that we’ve reached this point in the year? I sure can’t. Today, I will be sharing some of my goals for this month. I hope you enjoy!

Last Months’s PostMy July Goals & June Reflection | 2020

//How I Did On My July Goals//

  • Fix Your Sleep Schedule – Complete. I have messed it up again, but I did fix it for awhile. I woke up between 9:30-10:30 for most of the month, which was a great routine for me. I’d immediately put on my gym clothes so that I would work out an hour after having breakfast.
  • Organize Blog Menu – I didn’t do this.I genuinely have no excuse. I just didn’t feel like it.
  • Inbox Zero – Complete. My next step is to maintain Inbox Zero.
  • Do The Reading Rush – Complete. I documented the whole week through blog posts.
  • Declutter Your Bedroom – I didn’t even attempt to do this.
  • No Spend Month – Complete. It was easier than I thought it would be.
  • Relax – Complete. I spent a lot of time intentionally relaxing, which made July a really great month.
  • Get a 3-Star Island In Animal Crossing – Complete. I didn’t really play that much Animal Crossing, but my Island reached 3 Stars at the beginning of the month,

//My August Goals//

//Finalize Graduate School Stuff

I have done mostly everything and have registered for my classes. I just need to go to orientation and fill out some paperwork stuff.

//Figure Out Daily Routine For School & Work

I plan on starting grad school this month, so I need to figure out a routine around my online classes. I also plan to start working online this month, so a schedule for that is necessary, as well. I’m not too worried about this yet. I’m trying to enjoy the break time I have for now.

//Dye Hair Blue

I’ve already bought the hair dye, so this is halfway done. I have black hair and don’t want to bleach it. This just felt like a fun thing to do to my hair for a couple of days. I don’t have to go into an office, so I can afford to dye my hair a fun color. I originally wanted to dye the bottom half purple, but changed my mind to blue. If I like it, I may try purple later on.

//Declutter Bedroom Before Classes Start

I still need to declutter my bedroom. That is a chore I’ve been avoiding alll summer. My room is surface level clean, but I do need to get rid of stuff and reorganize.

//Organize Blog Menu

I didn’t do it in July, so I had to move it to August. This task isn’t hard. It’s just tedious because I’ve written almost 300 blog posts.

//Update Blog’s “About Me” Page

I don’t think I’ve updated it since my Junior year of college, so I hate to think about how outdated the information is now. I’m sure I will complete this goal at the absolute last minute because I am going to overthink it.

//Finish 7 Books

Woo! I did this in a week. Here’s hoping I can do it in a month. Logically, I can, but reading ruts happen.

//July Reflection//

July was a pretty good month. I had a great routine going, I was working out more, read more books, started waking up early, and was overall more intentional with my time. The weeks didn’t pass by without notice like they did in June.

Even though quarantine has gotten easier, my family has been really stressed out. Both of my grandparents tested positive with Covid-19, and they’re in Bangladesh right now. My grandmother has gotten better, but my grandpa is very sick. It’s getting bad and my brain can’t really process it. This is the only update I’m willing to give here right now. We’re just praying that it will be fine and are doing everything we can for them from here.

To end on some happier notes, here are good/interesting things that happened in July. My degree came in the mail at the beginning of the month, so that was cool. I also got into graduate school which was a load off of my mind. There was also one day where our AC broke and another night where the power went out in our entire area (not just my neighborhood), which was weird because we haven’t had a blackout in years. It was pitch black, so we could actually see the stars.

I did typical day to day things, too. I cooked more and started watching T.V shows again. I had mostly been watching movies these past few months, so I got back into binge-watching (though I’m not sure that’s a good thing). I also participated in the Reading Rush for the first time, where I tried to read seven books in one week, I documented it all in many blog posts, which I‘ll link here. It was fun. Taylor Swift dropped a new album and I’ve listened to the entire thing multiple times. I absolutely love it. I haven’t liked every song on any of her albums before. This is the first time that’s happened

The month ended with Korbani Eid, which is a Muslim holiday. This Eid really passed us by. We actually tried last Eid to make it feel like a holiday, but we were much more chill about this one. We ate together, dressed up, took pictures, but went about our typical day. I called my cousins and hung out with my family.

Well, that’s it for now. I’m in this strange blogging rut right now where I don’t know what to write. I have a lot of ideas, but I don’t know how to go about them. Either way, I’ll see y’all next week with another post.

  1. I can’t believe it’s August too! I think it would be cool if you dyed your hair blue. New month new hair? Haha. I hope you have a great month! Be safe.
