My October Goals & September Reflection | 2020

Hello, lovelies! Happy October! There are officially less than 100 days left in 2020, and I’m ready for this year and this election to be over. With that said, here are my October goals. I hope you enjoy!

//How I Did In September//

  • Keep Up With School Work – Complete.
  • Get 2 Weeks Ahead On Blog Posts – Complete. This has already made a huge difference in my stress level. I’m not preoccupied with the fact that I haven’t posted anything each week like I used to.
  • Clean Out Rest Of Room – Nope. To be honest, I haven’t needed to. I would like to do this soon, but it’s not entirely necessary, which makes me procrastinate..
  • Update “About Me Page” & Organize Blog Menu – Complete, I’m assuming. I’m writing this early and have already organized my blog menu. I plan on updating the About Me page a week before this comes out, so you can check whether or not it’s updated or not.
  • Start Catching Up On My Classic Book List – Kind of. I wanted to read two classics, but I only read one. Granted, it was the longest book on my reading list, so I’m not upset about it. (I read The Count of Monte Cristo)
  • Work Out (At Least) Every Other Day – Complete. 🙂 I honestly have less energy the days that I don’t, so I worked out more than every other day.

//Get Ahead On Big Grad School Assignments

These past few weeks of school have gone by really fast, so it was easy to forget that I’m almost to the mid-point. I have a lot of big assignments due at the end of the semester and I would like to get some of them started so that I’m not stressed out in December.

//Do Something For Halloween

I was kind of sad that I couldn’t do anything for Halloween this year due to the pandemic. Then on our weekly Zoom call, one of my friends asked what she should dress up as. I was surprised and thought, “I guess we are doing something.” And now, we’re probably going to do our typical socially distanced meetups in someone’s backyard while wearing costumes and eating candy. Which sounds perfect, honestly. I have a projector, so we may be able to watch a movie outside, too. (We decided not to do a bonfire to avoid accidently burning down someone’s house.)

//Organize Closet

My room is clean, but my closet could use a little organizing.

//Vote!

Early voting starts on October 12th in Georgia, so I plan on voting in person then. It shouldn’t be that crowded, but I’m still a little worried since I haven’t gone to any indoor public places since March.

//Renew Driver’s License

I almost forgot about this. My driver’s license expires next month on my birthday and I need to renew it. My birthday is on Thanksgiving, so the DMV is not going to be open that day, and I’d rather get the paperwork out of the way sooner rather than later. I’d like to try to get started on this in October.

//Read 7 Books

This is pretty self-explanatory. I have been reading pretty consistently, but I didn’t finish that many books in September (I recently realized that I’m a surprisingly slow reader). I would like to finish seven in October. A lot of them will be graphic novels that I own because it’s part of my “finish unread books on shelf” goal, but there are other novels and audiobooks I’d like to read/listen to.

//Spend More Quality Time With My Family

Here’s the thing, I live with six other people, but I don’t spend that much time with them. Especially since school has started. At the beginning of summer, my family and I would stay up till 5 AM together, but I could easily go the entire day talking only with my mom and Mysoon. I do spend time with my grandparents, but I would like to spend more quality time with them in between my school work. Zidan rarely leaves his room, but I should go in there and bother him more 🙂 This isn’t something I have to do, but I would like to do it because I should.

//Stay Ahead On Blog Posts

I got ahead on blog posts in September, and it has been amazing. I haven’t stressed out about not writing anything each week because there’s already something scheduled. Last week was a pretty underproductive week because I found a fanfiction series that I obsessively read for three days straight, but I didn’t feel guilty like I normally would have because there were already blog posts scheduled. I want to keep this up for the rest of the month. I know that I have the ability to do this. My problem is that I end up upping the amount of times I post each week to two or three posts instead of scheduling them for weeks later.

//Halloween Movie Marathon

I mean…why not? 🙂 There’s not much else I can do and there’s no Rocky Horror Picture Show this year. I could watch the movie because I’ve only ever seen the live performance.

//Work Out 5 Days Per Week

I used to hate working out at home, but I finally got a really great routine going these past three months that I’m having fun doing. It makes working out five days a week feel easy.

//September Reflection//

September was honestly a really good month. It wasn’t perfect by any means. Covid numbers are still going up due to people not social distancing. The election is in full swing. Breonna Taylor didn’t get justice. Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away. Things externally still sucked, but I am unfortunately getting used to that.

My day to day life has been pretty good. I’m keeping up with school work even though Zoom classes are incredibly boring and difficult to pay attention to. The weather has been getting cooler, so taking fall walks has been nice. I’ve been talking with my friends on the phone and enjoying my time at home. My habits weren’t always perfect. There were definitely days where I slept in till noon or didn’t eat well, but I didn’t really think about it. Everything was going well, but life isn’t amazing by any means. It’s what’s become normal.

I think the only out of the ordinary things that happened this month are that my grandparents came out of quarantine and my friend Stellah and I are finally finishing Avatar together after over a year. I genuinely can’t believe my grandparents got out of quarantine last month. It feels like ages ago even though September went by so quickly. They’re doing well and are happy to be home. Stellah randomly invited me over to watch Avatar on her balcony on labor day, and I jumped at the opportunity. We only did this twice  last month and watched four episodes instead of binging it to the ending. We are 100% finishing it this month though. I doubt there will be any more delays. Only the two hour finale is left.

And yeah. that’s pretty much my month. I stayed relatively entertained and productive at home, and genuinely only left my neighborhood twice. I was so pissed off at the end of the month, though. One of my favorite shows which you’ve heard me talk about a million times The 100 ended this month and it was terrible. People have been saying this final season was worse than Game of Thrones, and I’m whole heartedly agree. They ruined so many main characters before killing them off, which was awful, but didn’t make me quit the show like the rest of Twitter. What pissed me off was that they added this random detail which made everything after season 5 pointless. A detail that didn’t need to exist in the first place!

I ranted so much about this to one of my friends. I’m super sad because this can’t be one of my favorite shows anymore. It’s kind of like how J.K Rowling tainted Harry Potter forever (or until people separate it the way we separate Ender’s Game from Orson Scott Card  and that Michael Crichton, the famous sci-fi author of Jurassic Park was a climate change denier). It’s not as bad as that, but I didn’t even care enough to watch the final episode (yet). I just spoiled myself because I didn’t give any fucks anymore. (I’m probably gonna rant about this again in my September entertainment post, so here’s a PSA for that.)

But yeah, aside from my second favorite show being ruined in a few episodes and the horrible things going on in the U.S. and the rest of the world, September was good. I really don’t know what to say. It was a good month.

(Oh wait! Our backyard neighbors cut down some of the trees in their yard and our house has so much more natural light now <3 Sure, we can now see into each other’s houses, but I’ll take more natural light any day)

So yeah…that’s it for now! Until next time!
