Hello, lovelies! Can you believe that it’s October 1st? There are only three months left in the year, which feels short, but it’s actually a lot of time to get stuff done. I set a lot of goals this month, so I hope I will be able to get through most of them. Let’s get into it.
Last Month’s Goals – My September Goals | 2019 Powersheets
//How I Did In September//
Update LinkedIn Profile & Resume– Complete? I did update my resume and LinkedIn Profile, but there’s definitely more I have left to do in regard to both of them.Do A Financial Check-In– Complete.Meet With Academic Advisor– Complete. I always wait until the last minute to do this, but I managed to get it done early this year. I’ll most likely be a part-time student next semester.Finish 9 Books– Complete. Two of them were graphic novels, so I read those quicker than the others.Get Projects Done Early– Complete. This month was my busiest month this semester in terms of projects and exams, so getting things done early saved my sanity.Set Up Dorm Room– Complete-ish. I finally hung up the mirror that has been propped against the wall for two months and hung all my photos on the wall, but there are a few more things I would like to add because I have a whole extra wall this year. All in all, I set up all the things I already have.- Upload All Travel Photos & 2019 Facebook Album – Nope. Did not happen. I did go through my Europe photos but have yet to post them. I haven’t gone through the other photos I’ve taken this year either.
Post Two Blog Posts Per Week– I’m counting this as complete because I posted three posts the first week of September then once the week after, so it still adds up to the same number of posts. I would like to keep up with this twice a week schedule in October.- Take Salsa Or Ballroom Dance Class Every Week – This did not happen. I probably won’t take the salsa classes since their on Sunday afternoon and I never get back to campus in time, but I’ll try to take the ballroom dance classes on Thursday. Those are fun.
See A Friend Twice A Week– Complete.- Work Out 3-5 Days Per Week – I didn’t track my workouts this month, so I don’t remember if I did this consistently.
Slow September– I did Simply + Fiercely’s challenge for September and it really helped me slow down and practice self-care during a busy school month. I believe she’s going to put all the “challenges” on a PDF for those who missed it, so you should check it out.
//October Goals//
//Finalize Trip For December
So this AMAZING travel opportunity fell into my lap earlier last month, and I think I’m going to do it. It’s very last minute and there are a lot of kinks to work out, but I will ideally be on another continent in two months. I’ll write about it if there’s anything to tell, but I would like to buy the plane ticket, organize the homestay, and work out the thing I will be doing there by the end of October.
//Make Preparations For E-Course
I really want to publish an E-Course by the end of this year. I’ve already written it. There’s just a lot of things I need to do before publishing it, like design worksheets and open a Teachable account. Everything won’t get done in October, but I would like the course to go live in January.
//Plan A Halloween Party
I feel like “party” is too strong of a word. I’m just going to invite a few friends, dress up, eat candy, watch a Halloween movie, and talk for hours. I did this last year and it was a lot of fun. I definitely want to do this again. It was originally was going to be at my house, but one of my friend’s mom asked if we could do it at hers, so we’ll probably do it there.
//Set Up Meeting With Career Center
I am graduating in May, so I need to start working on my job search. (So stressful!!!)
//Finish 9 Books
This is to finish my 100 books in a year goal. I only have 25 books left to read by December.

//October Income Goal
September was the first time I’ve started really working since coming back from Europe four months ago, so I’ve started making a regular income again. That’s been really great and I would like to become more consistent with tracking it, along with my expenses. It was fine to skip this during the summer since I barely made or spent any money, but I definitely spent more money last month than I have in the previous three months combined. I guess there are two parts to this goal: work more hours to make more money and don’t spend money out of convenience.
//Add Advertisements To Blog
I’ve had mixed feelings about doing this for years, but I think I’ll finally do it this month.
//Update 2019 Facebook Album
I haven’t been sharing this in my 2019 goals updates, but one of my goals for this year was to document my life more. I used to take more pictures of my day to day back in high school, but I tend to not document my life unless I’m traveling or go to an event. Even when I dress up and go to events, I’ve noticed that I don’t have any photos of just myself. You could argue that it’s because I’m enjoying myself in the moment, but I genuinely enjoy taking pictures and it makes events more fun for me. Anyway, I would like to update my 2019 Facebook album, which has not been updated since April.
//Weekly Goals
- Follow Weekly Study Schedule
- Post On Blog Twice A Week
- Study GRE Prep Book
- Go Out Twice A Week
- Solo Coffee Dates
- Work Out 3-5 Days Per Week
//September Recap//
Honestly, September wasn’t that amazing of a month. Things went back to normal once my mom came back from Bangladesh, so I was actually on campus for most of the month. I was kind of sad for the first few weeks because there was an adjustment period of leaving Mysoon again. It wasn’t nearly as hard as last year but was an undertone throughout the first few days.
September was also a busy month school-wise. I was always doing something plus I started blogging twice a week again. I felt my body physically relax last Wednesday after taking my last test because it was finally over.
I’ve been eating a lot of chocolate croissants recently. At least once a week last month, I would go to a coffee shop to buy a pastry. This is something that I never do. I honestly never spend money on little things like that, but I followed my rule of never buying anything from a coffee shop unless I plan on sitting there and eating it so I was also paying for the experience of being there. I would sit at a table and blog and study for a few hours before heading to wherever I needed to go. It reminded me of being in Europe again (even when it was just the Starbucks on campus)
It has been scorching hot these past few weeks. I can’t wait until we have fall weather here in Georgia because it should not be 95 degrees in October. The pollen count has also been really high, so I’ve been perpetually congested all month. I feel like that was the biggest reason September was kind of “meh.” No one likes feeling sick. The weather was actually really nice on Friday and the pollen count was low enough where I could be outside. I sat on a bench in the shade for half an hour in the breeze talking to my friend on the phone (who agrees that talking on the phone is superior to texting). After we hung up, I laid on the bench reading my book. It wasn’t a lighthearted book you think of bloggers reading while sitting outdoors on a bench. It’s a suspense thriller about a stalker/murderer. I remember wanting to remember that cliche moment, so I took a picture that I didn’t post on Instagram (though I’ll insert it below). I have two mosquito bites to show for those ninety minutes I spent before my second class, but it was so worth it.
This month wasn’t that interesting overall, but I don’t mind the day-to-day mundanities. Honestly, I think the reason it wasn’t great was that my allergies were so bad. I’m so relieved that it’s gotten better in the last week because it’s been such a nuisance.
Other things that happened last month: I sang in a concert and my microwave short-circuited, started smoking, and set off the fire alarm in my dorm. People in my building were joking that my roommate last year passed it on to me since she started a fire in the kitchen on Halloween last year (Because my life is basically a sit-com and kooky things always happen), though that fire included actual flames.
I feel like I’m being super ambitious this month because I did my quarterly refresh so recently. Hopefully, I’ll be able to keep this momentum for the last 90 days of the year. School is kind of kicking my ass, so most of my daily habit tracker contains things like (Go to class on time and review that day’s class notes). Those will be very important since there are two straight weeks in October where I have no exams or project due. That’s usually a precursor to a lot of procrastination.
